Chu Pan-Hsiung
Born in Xiguan, Guangzhou in 1945, Dr. Chu Pan-hsiung obtained his bachlor degree of National Taiwan University of Arts in 1967. Having gained experience and skills regarding industrial design, landscape architecture, special fine arts and klin management, Dr. Chu has returned to his hometwon Meinung and established Meinung Yao Studio and the exhinition center since 1987. He is the pioneer of both Taiwanese ceramic art and the creator of public ceramic relief mural (PCRM), combing different technologies and skills such as the ceramic technology, structural engineering and fine arts. Dr. Chu has created more than 60 works for taiwan so far. His artistic achivements are world-famous for their sizes, amount and creating dynamic.
Dr. Chu addressed the idea of cultural and creative industries 30 years ago. His intention of integrating the capital structures all over Taiwan by creating large ceramic murals is still unprecedented. As with the mental aspect, Dr. Chu shows his love for his hometown Meinung by popularizing the ceramic mutuals. His works are just like his heart, tremedious and full of tension. His unique and spendid public ceramic relief murals are all over Taiwan. He has been creating until now without a pause.
In 2003, Dr. Chu studied at Griffith Universitey in Australia for his doctorial degree and graduated in 3 years. He then started to take ceramic murals into campus. Not only has he been invited as a guest professor in top tier universities in China, he also lectures for governmental and nongovernmnetal organizations and leading companies. His passion for PCRM and humanistic quality passes along through sharing knowledge.
